Fire at Judith MacKenzie's Studio in Forks, Washington

Oct 30, 2012

We've just received the sad news that there was a fire early Monday morning in the building that housed Judith MacKenzie's spinning and weaving studio. I've heard from Judith and she is okay (no one was in the building at the time of the fire) but her studio has burned down completely (along with the community theater and several businesses in downtown Forks). This link mentions the spinning wheels and looms—it is where Judith taught and stored all of her looms and wheels.

I know that many of you have taken Judith MacKenzie's classes (at SOAR or at other conferences). I'll keep you posted as I hear from Judith about how we can help her rebuild her studio so she can continue to teach.

Update: A URL has been created by three close friends of Judith's to help with coordinating relief efforts for Judith's studio--it is http://www.rebuildjudithsstudio.com/index.html.

I think a lot of us would like to make a contribution. Do you know, is there an account? A PayPal e-mail? (It seems like you all would be able to find this out and post it?)

Judith has given so much to all of us. This gives us the opportunity to give back.

Several groups are working on getting relief efforts organized--once we have a URL we'll post it. I'll keep you updated.

Amy, the website to help Judith has disappeared--do you have any more current info, or at least an address we can write to, to send help?
