I would rip it out and reknit it for your self, cause you love it so much and it will really mean a lot when you refinish it. Susan

 Wonder what does shrink silk.

Maybe dry heat?

You could sew it to your size.

Do you have someone else to make it for?

Rip it out sounds good also.

Lynn D

thank you for the hint that can redye without adding more dye(since it just reattached what was there)

Actually I carded and cleaned the raw wool myself while herding goats in the California back country. The yarn never looked quite clean, but I proceded to spin it (also while herding goats), and ended up with enough for my Norwegian patterned "dream" sweater, that even had a hood. Well, the finished sweater, although it fit just fine, weighed a ton! It was warm, and I used to wear it when sailing, always hoping I wouldn't fall overboard and drown because the wool was so heavy when wet. I finally gave it away to some very needy person.

Now, I have new dreams of someday spinning for my own Norwegian patterned sweater, which will probably NOT have a hood, and I hope, weighs a lot less and has much cleaner, lighter wool in it. After many years away from this craft, a new spinning wheel is on the way. I just subscribed to Spin-Off, so help is also on the way. - Dawn King

I voted for ripping out. Painful, but I agree with everyone else, you will be happier in the long run.

Could that shrink it enough?

Another suggestion would be to try and sell it - maybe as a charity auction item for a cause you support?

After all the hard work you've put in, I imagine frogging it and re-knitting it to fit will ultimately be the most satisfying. And might even leave you with enough yarn leftover for a matching accessory???

Gorgeous color - Thanks for sharing and good luck!
