At the much anticipated 2012
Shetland Wool Week, the
Shetland Guild of Spinners, Weavers, Dyers, and Knitters will launch a book of Shetland lace knitting patterns. The guild will introduce its new publication at the
Shetland Museum & Archives on Monday, October 8. Guild members are involved in Wool Week in many ways, doing demonstrations as a group, in addition to members leading workshops. Hazel Tindall is a longtime member of the guild who will be teaching a Fair Isle workshop. Hazel is known the world over for her beautiful work and incredible knitting speed. Here is a
video showing her in action.
Shetland Wool Week spans October 8-14 this year. Other events include wool sorting and grading with Oliver Henry of Jamieson and Smith, lectures from Dr. Carol Christiansen, curator at the Shetland Museum & Archives, and the launch of a new collection from knitwear designer and writer Kate Davies. Check the Shetland Wool Week website and Facebook page for a full listing of events.
