Corrections in the Winter 2009 Issue of Spin-Off

Apr 5, 2010

The key for the chart of the Oatmeal Cardigan (on page 64) was incorrect. Attached you'll find a corrected chart.

In the article, Down on the Farm (page 92) by Heather Ordover, the photos should be credited to Mike and Betty Hedrick.

We're very sorry for these errors.

I have knit and ripped out the sleve chart 5 times...and have found the error in the chart.  The symbols in the key need to be reversed.  the right slanting ( second one down) should really be the left facing slant.  And, the opposite for the left facing slant symbol.  The directions then work.

You listed corrections for the yolk chart here...Yikes!  does anyone check these charts first?  I am thankful for the corrections...but this has been a disaster so far for me.  I want to be confident with your patterns.

Dear Patricia,

Thanks so much for the note. I'm very sorry that the errors in the chart caused you problems. We do check the charts and patterns very carefully, but sometimes errors do get by us. We strive constantly to improve the processes.

Best wishes,

The symbols have still not been corrected for the SLEEVE chart--just as the woman posted prior to my post--several months ago, in July.  The SYMBOLS for the 3rd and 4rd lines need to be switched.  Otherwise, the cabling does not create the pattern correctly.

It appears you have the symbols for the sleeve chart reversed in the key - this should be fixed - I wasted hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before it dawned on me to see if the pattern was the problem. It took an intuitive leap for me as I have only ever done a couple of cables before but I finally figured it out. Please fix this for future knitters.

Thank you.

Help. I just spun an incredible amount of BFl and started the sleeve of this sweater. The cable did not come out right but the rest looks beautiful. I do not see a correction to the sleeve pattern!!! Some folks posted about the third and fourth row but I'm uncertain what needs to change. I'm an intermediate knitter and have only made one other sweater. Can somebody please post the corrected sleeve chart and also tell me when to start this pattern in the body. I didn't see that in the directions.

Thanks.
