Handwoven Magazine Presents the 2012 Garment Challenge
Millenia of fashionistas can’t be wrong: sleeveless is chic!
You blew us away with your excellent submissions for last year's Handwoven garment challenge. In fact, we had so much fun last year that we’ve decided to do it all again! This year’s theme is “Look Ma, No Sleeves” and we’ll be looking for both loom-shaped and tailored garments of all kinds—so long as they’re sleeveless.
We’ll be picking winners in six specific categories: best loom-shaped garment, best tailored garment, most original, best project on a rigid-heddle loom, best use of handspun yarns, and best use of knitting yarns. The winner of each category will then have their project featured in the September/October special garment issue of Handwoven. Oh, and we should mention that there will be some fabulous prizes. Watch this space for announcement!
Whether you’ve been looking for an incentive to turn your handwoven cloth into clothing, or have been sewing what you weave for a long time, this is the contest for you! And if you don’t sew, no worries: find a seamstress or seamster and team up on a garment! Or team up with a spinner if you want to use handspun yarn but don’t spin.
