Hi Amy -- a question and a comment.

First, the question -- are you going to be posting the schedule for the retreat sessions before registration since, with the introduction of open studio, we can't count on the retreat sessions being offered in each time slot?

And the comment -- I would like to know more about the thinking behind the "open studio" idea.  Personally, for me, it does not feel like added value.  As an attendee, I prefer to pay for structured learning.  And often at least some of the mentors are hanging around in the evening during our informal "open studios".

Hi Amyfibre,

Thanks for the note. I will post the schedule of the retreat sessions and the open studio on the SOAR blog before we go live so that you can plan ahead.

The open studio is a more free-form, spontaneous style gathering--it hearkens back to the origins of SOAR where spinners gathered and shared their knowledge. Two to four mentors will be available each open studio. We’re really excited about it.

Best wishes,

Amy

Amy/Karen:

I think you may have swapped the workshop/retreat materials for Stephenie Gaustad.  For Bast workshop you only need "an open mind" (which is a lovely concept.)  For the Fine Fibers on a Tahkli Spindle retreat you need a spinning wheel.  Curious....

I wonder if Maggie Casey's materials list is swapped around too.  A bulky head plyer makes more sense for the Big lofty yarn workshop than the multicolored yarn from solid colored roving retreat...

Kathyrn Alexanders looks swapped.  You only need knitting materials for the retreat, but need knitting and spinning stuff for the workshop...

Looking closer I can see a couple others that look suspect.  Maybe the whole lists are just swapped.

Thanks for the heads up--we'll fix the materials lists--they are swapped right now.

Okay--the Materials lists have been fixed--they are now correct.
