We've received a lot of notes from readers who are concerned about all the fires around us in Colorado--thank you for your concern. We know many people who are near the fire areas and been evacuated. We're thankful for the amazing firefighters and the people who support them in their efforts--what incredible work they have done to keep the fires contained and people safe.
And I've received this note from Dale Pettigrew (former Assistant
Editor of Spin-Off and SOAR coordinator): Very sad news-Kris Paige has
lost her home and barn to the High Park fire. Animals are elsewhere,
temporarily, but need to be moved
again-the Ranch, which has been housing evacuated livestock, wants
animals moved out because of an upcoming event on June 30. Please pass
this on to the spinning community.
Kris Paige is a Spin-Off contributor and is a huge supporter of the wolf sanctuary--helping support the sanctuary by spinning the wolf fiber for garments that sold at charity auctions. She and her family and animals (they are missing one cat) were able to escape the fire, but they got away with only the clothes on their backs.
Deborah Robson (former editor of Spin-Off) has thorough updates about the fire and the wolf sanctuary on her blog, http://independentstitch.typepad.com/the_independent_stitch/
