I'd love to hear from as many people who want to explain why seconds are not good for spinning.  Is it difficult to spin?  Is it not as soft as the blanket?  Please help.  I'm getting ready to do something with my seconds.  Thanks.

Thank you for the idea.  I have some Romney wool that I've carded.  I'll experiment!

I have spun with the seconds.  I have a drum carder, so am making my own rovings, as well as dyeing my own fiber.  I love to felt as well and have used the seconds I carded with great success for projects that require felting.

Hi Gina,

You will find with the alpaca seconds the quality can be quite hairy.. When spun it will be scratchy. You don't want to mix this in with quality fibre either.

If you do spin up the seconds you can use the yarn to knit mats, which are beautiful under foot.

I hope this helps you.

Regards

Jo
