Hello,

I have been searching for different, strange, and exotic(!) vegetable fibers! There was a company many years ago called Fibercore Industries that made these available, but they have long since gone out of business. I'm looking for sugarcane, Brazilian pepper, and other off-the-beaten-path plant-based fibers.

Does anyone know where to buy these? I see I can get some of them wholesale from China, but only if I get a metric ton(!) which is a little more than I want!!! I want a few lbs of it, but not a ton...

Thanks,

Amy

Hello Amy,

I'm on a similar hunt.. I have found a yarn co. (http://www.yarn.com/webs-knitting-crochet-yarns-fiber-exotic/) that has the fibres already spun.  And this place has stuff for sale like raw jute, bamboo, peatmoss etc.  http://www.allfiberarts.com/2011/ramie.htm So hopefully you can find what you are looking for.

Please let me know if you find any more on your travels...

Dee
