I forgot is there a technique for making a new leader from a roving? Does anyone know a video that covers this?

Sorry, this may not be exactly what you are looking for, but I just tie a piece of cotton yarn (such as peaches and cream) on, long enough to reach past the orifice, and tie a loop at the end, then tie the end of the fiber in a small knot to the loop.  (I cut the fiber knot off later when I remove the yarn.)  I have tried doing a leader from fiber, but I find it harder than just using cotton.

I have to agree with ilovesocks, it's a lot easier to use a preset leader, especially since you will rearely have to replace it. Also, you waste A LOT less fiber doing it this way.

The ONLY difference between an accomplished spinner and a new one who feels they don't have "the touch for it", is practice and not quitting.
