I'm having a fair amount of luck spinning after pre-drafting but,for the life of me...can't seem to draft from either roving or batt. Have read everything I can and watched videos repeatedly to no avail. It looks so easy! Any advice would be appreciated.

You could have your hands too close together for the staple length of the fiber (meaning that you are holding both ends of the same hair shaft) or you are holding the fiber too tight.  Here's a good video with explanations including some close up of drafting. Start with park and draft. RuthAnn gives good closeups of this. Watch it all, but the real explanation starts at about 3:00 mins in and then good close ups at about 6:00 mins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s99KZZOZ4q4&feature=related  I like all of this person's videos.

Here's another really basic video that shows this also. At about 2:40 mins in, you can see how the spinner opens the fingers of her fiber hand so she can pull some fibers down. If you grab your spun fiber and there is some twist still between your 2 hands, you may have to untwist ever so slightly to be able to draft some fibers out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IoF6OtjY2E

Good luck!
