I have a friend in Turkey that has access to wool from Red Karaman sheep. She sent about 5lbs of this wool that has not been skirted or processed. I am learning how to process this wool. I tried a search on this website for any mention of this breed of sheep, can't find any information. Does anyone know of this breed?

After working with it in a few trial batches, it seems coarse. It has a long length, reddish brown. I think it is used as a rug yarn. Should it be carded or combed? Does it matter?

Any information is helpful
