Oh my goodness it is addicting! lol

I purchased the digital download on the Orenburg gossamer thread spinning and decided to find a russian spindle. I found a lovely one on Etsy and just received today. I had some sample fiber so i pulled it and watched the second video of the gossamer thread and learned how to do it! Took me a bit but after a few hours i finally got the hang of it!

will post pics as soon as I can. Once you get the hang of it it is really relaxing! sweet!

I really fancy having a go at this type of spinning and now I have a good video recommended to instruct me. Look forward to seeing your pictures.

Have you tried this yet dizzysue? takes practice that is for sure. lol

Galina shows how you use cardboard circles to wrap your two ply then you steam them to set the twist. very interesting. i get that as this fiber is so delicate when you work it but can easily see it will be warm. takes time tho! Patience is the key. lol

here is the first photo of starting to spin i had only one spindle and found a ceramic bowl my daughter made in school as my support bowl.

Here is my two new spindles (i just got a plying one yesterday will post that later) but also showing a two ply ball of yarn wrapped around the cardboard circle. Not yet steamed as i am going to make many more for a project. Found a guy on etsy who hand makes russian spindles and he made the bowl and spindles.
