finally getting the hang of it but here are a couple pics of my skein spun of cashmere and plied with a silk thread.

this picture shows a commercial lace weight ball of yarn i used to help me duplicate a nice consistent yarn.

still need more practice but i am really enjoying learning this! I hope to make a orenburg type shawl soon. :)

Your yarn is beautiful!  What plying silk did you use and can you tell me where to find it?

Thanks,

Linda

Thanks Linda

took some practice and still have a ways to go. the silk thread i found at my local quilt shop however i guessed at the yardage needed. I used up  most of the spool.

I live near the textile guild in minneapolis so i plan on getting up there and buying a nice big spool or two of silk thread.

when i first started doing this i plied with a silk covered cotton sewing thread and that did real well. But using silk brought a beautiful sheen not to mention a nice strength that didn't take away from the lightness of the yarn.

good spinning!

I'm learning, and I'm finding it kinda tedious. But I admit, it looks cool, and I'm getting a nice, fine thread out of it.

It is challenging at first but i kept at it and now i can spin with out doing a park and draft most of the time. but again it takes practice. lol

i love it. I love the portability of it and the fact I can sit in a chair and do it. nice change from using a drop spindle.
