In the Fall 2012 issue, the article by Liz Good about the $7 spinning wheel states that the plans for the DODEC can be downloaded on this site.

Maybe I am blind, but I cannot find them.  Help!

Scroll down the page until you see the picture of the wheel on the left-hand side of the page.  Click or double-click on the picture and your computer should ask you if you want to open or save the pdf file.  The pdf file is what you are looking for.

Hi to all that can't find the instructions for the dodec spinning wheel ($7.00)

I found it on the Ravelry.com  under people you print his username   "Bishopofknit" once you get to his site look for the website on the right and then you should find the wheel pattern for the $7.00 wheel.  This is the way I found it and if you print it at 125% sideways you'll get about 20 pages on the 100% you get 17 pages but I felt it was worth the extra 3 pages to be able to read the instructons--happy spinning to all   hollings00011

Thank you for posting that reply.  Not only did you share the link, but you gave great info on finding the PDF too :)

I believe you will enjoy the PDF from Spinningdaily.com better than the plans I host on ravelry.  Interweave used my plans to make a more concise version for ease of use.  If I were to recommend one, it would be the plans hosted here!  I'm glad you found my Ravelry page though, and more importantly I hope you build this wheel :)

On the Home Page, on the left side about half-way down is a picture of the DODEC wheel, click on it & voila!  the instructions.

The downloadable .pdf found on this site is missing the sizes for the parts in the material list. We didn't notice this until after we were at the hardware store.  :(  Made our best guess. Only thing we got wrong was the first 2 bolts listed. Will be picking those up tomorrow and building the wheel, but I wanted to alert y'all that if you use the .pdf here, you'll need to first get the list at Ravelry for the parts.  The link to the .pdf on this site is here http://www.spinningdaily.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/spinoff/5661.Dodec-Spinning-Wheel-Brochure.pdf

UPDATE: IT WAS MY .PDF READER FAILING TO SHOW THE NUMBERS. SORRY ABOUT THAT!

when I look at the PDF hosted here on Spinningdaily it has the sizes.  As a matter of fact it list the first two bolts like this,

(2) ¼-20UNC x 3½ full thread, hex-head  bolts

would you be willing to make some of these? I am having a hard time finding someone who can make these for the Amplatz Children's hospital where my son get chemo treatment. I have been teaching spinning with drop spindles and also bring my spinning wheel with me. but they could sure use these.

let me know what you think?

thanks

Scott, Thank you so much for inventing this wheel.  I have the small Great Walking Wheel from Gene Lurwig but I wanted a foot pedal wheel.  I know you've been inundated with comments but ...  I was reading comments from somewhere that someone had used wooden plaques from JoAnn's for the wheel.  Now I can't find where this discussion was going on.  Do you have an idea where or what discussion group this was posted on?

No, I just clicked on it and it works (you might have to be logged into Ravelry though).

It might be easier to make the wheel out of plywood than to piece it together like that.
