Hello, my name is Richard and I'm an addict.
It's something I never thought about until I allowed my fiancee to take me to a fiber festival last fall. It was a trick, she suggested we go on a motorcycle ride. While all the yarn knitting devices were of no interest, I was fascinated by the spinning. I left with a couple drop spindles and 2 bags of yarn, that lasted me awhile, but only succeeded in making me more interested in a wheel. Well, 3 months ago I found a Lendrum single treadle with a lazy kate and 3 extra bobbins in like new condition for only $200.00, so I got it. That was about 50 some ounces ago, I was and am hooked. A lot of trial and error, but thanks to youtube and a couple videos from Abby Franquemont, I'm producing some great yarn that Wendy knits. Nothing beats a self serving hobby.
Still a ways to go before I'm ready to have bragging rights, or declare myself a great spinner, but I'm loving it.
The ONLY difference between an accomplished spinner and a new one who feels they don't have "the touch for it", is practice and not quitting.
Welcome Richard. We are glad you are here! Unfortunately (or fortunately), we will only encourage your addiction . . .
