Here is the reader's survey from our Winter issue:
Liz GoodManaging Editor, Spin-Off
I think silk is the greatest next to the skin. Cool in summer and warm in winter.
I wear silk next to the skin mostly. It wicks moisture well and both cool and warm. When I hike the Sierra I always have silk next to the skin, never cotton. The wool is not cool enough in the middle of the day when you can get very hot and the cotton stays wet after perspiring. Silk handles it all. I will put cotton on over the silk during the day but as it cools in the evening, on goes the wool on top of all. Aren't they all wonderful!
Silk, silk, silk! Wonderful to spin, to work with, to wear!
