I machine knit with my handspun all the time. I don't treat handspun any differently from commercially spun yarn. The main consideration is the gauge of the machine. The Japanese machines (Silver Reed/Studio/Singer, Brother/KnitKing, and Toyota) come in four gauges determined by the distance in millimeters...
