Hello! I am severely new, meaning I don't even have a spindle yet, but I'm confused as to the whole process - from a bunch of fluffy fiber to a finished product like a scarf. I know spinning is first. Do I wind it into balls straight away after I've spun it? Is plying second? What is this...

Hi. I'm brand-new to this group. I am looking for someone who could teach me how to spindle spin yarn. I used to know how to do this (I was still a newbie spinner, even when I last tried to spin), but I literally have not spun in years. I live in Tallahassee, Florida, and wonder if there might be...

I would like to start spinning and looking for a first spinning wheel. I heard that Babe Spinning Wheels were a good place to start since the investment is minimal. Has any one heard of Babe brand? Is that a good idea? Should I start with a spindle instead of a wheel? I live in San Diego and cannot find...

Thank you. I thought I was doing it wrong! My bobbins end up looking like the Pyrenees! I shall look into the Woolee-Winder! Many thanks for your help.

I am a newbie and have managed to get the wheel doing what I need, except for the bobbin! I have the wool threaded through all of the hooks on one side but the bobbin does not seem to fill properly. It fills up at one end until there is too much and I end up having to stop and move the wool through the...

Some fibers are easier to learn to spin than others. I prefer to teach on Coopworth, Romney or Border Leicester. These are a nice medium length staple length fibers that will draft easier. Makes learning easier. The same way as having good needles and a good yarn makes knitting easier, starting off with...
