Sarah Anderson previews her Spin-Off Autumn Retreat 2009 workshop by explaining her unique Navajo plying technique. Her variation on the Navajo-plying or Chain-plying technique is different than many others because all three plies are completely under control and under equal tension when the twist enters them, resulting in a very consistently plied yarn.

More great information from Sarah will be found at her 2009 SOAR Workshop: All You Can Eat Yarn Design Buffet. Visit www.interweavesoar.com to register!

Sarah Anderson rocks!

If you are lucky enough to get into one of her classes you will be thrilled with how much you learn and all the lovely surprises Sarah cooks up for her students.  She is supremely patient, funny, encouraging and kind as a teacher.  I know, she's my best bud - and I'm a 'challenge' :-)

Sarah is adept at helping new spinners that need a little boost, as well as truly inspiring to advanced spinners - showing them  unlimited spinning possibilities.  This is Sarah's forte!

BTW, if Sarah's Navajo Plying bonus video is choppy and difficult to watch, blame me... I took it on my new little Nikon.  However, I have found that if you hit the pause button and let the entire file load (it takes a while) you can view it entirely without the breakups.

How do I get the video to play? All I get is a blank screen.

Hi Susanne,

Are you logged in to the site? I think that the videos only show up as black screens to people who aren't members and/or haven't logged in.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Sarah and Bonnie! I took this video and some singles and produced a 3-ply yarn that I'm very satisfied with.

Thank you for this wonderful lesson.

I have searched and watched so many You Tube videos and have tried practicing this technique afterward and just could not get the hang of it... until I happened upon your video.  I finally GOT IT.  Your's is the best and I'm now making beautiful navajo plied yarns.  Thanks again.

thank you so much for posting this  clear video on the navajo ply, I am struggling to do this on a drop spindle. Does anyone have a video on that?

your voice is very soothing too,  and I see how relaxed you are on the wheel. I can't thank you enough for doing this because I have looked over a year for a video on this method.

Bless you,

grace
