I am definitely a NEEDLE woman! The granddaughter of a professional seamstress, I tried to be like other people - went to college, had jobs, lived a busy life in a big city… but there is no escaping our destiny: today I live in a smaller town, teach quilting, and do everything one can do with a needle - apart from giving shots! Funny - I didn’t use to care much for knitting. But since I moved to a mountainous area - where WINTER is really an understandable concept - I became more and more interested in knitting, yarn,and the like. Contacting other knitters online made me rebel against the poor quality of yarn in my country - mostly acrylic. And having noticed that a lot of knitters spin, too, I decided to try. Not a simple feat here: first I had to hunt a wood worker to make me a spindle (and I used it successfully for a year); then I decided to try a wheel, and it took me two years to find one to buy here. But now I am in love with spinning and I hope to make this bug bite other people around here. Hopefully in the future we will have materials and equipment regularly available in Brazil.
