I first fell in love with cotton spinning at an HGA Convergence 1976 workshop (Ft. Collins, CO) with Olive and Harry Linder, my spinning gurus, and from there I started Cotton Clouds because of my deep love of cotton and it's natural goodness.
Cotton Clouds Mail Order Yarns was born over 30 years ago from my love of cotton spinning and weaving. It's grown into a strong web presence of thousands of satisfied customers. I love doing it. I love working with many designers (Robin Lynde of www.meridianjacobs.com ; Kate Lang McKibben, etc) who publish projects woven with Cotton Clouds' yarns in Handwoven Magazine); I love going to the gin and selecting a remnant bale (less than 500 lbs) of ginned long staple Pima cotton for my handspinners; I love putting kits together in yarns and colors that really work; I love going to Rhode Island last summer to purchase a refurbished yarn winder to make my kits more professional and efficient; I love designing and sending out e-newsletters. But most of all I love talking with my customers on the phone when they call to order. I love to ask what they are making, how the weather is where they are, what yarns or fibers they love most.
I live in the Sonoran desert of Southeastern Arizona, listening to a myriad of birds greeting me through the open door. Nature is my strength, inspiration and healer. Cotton spinning is my solace.
